TERMS AND CONDITIONS – DAVIDWMARINE SERVICES LTD
By making a booking with Davidwmarine Services LTD (“the Company”), the customer agrees to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions.
1. Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy
1.1 Customer Cancellation or Rescheduling
Any cancellation or request to reschedule must be made no less than five (5) working days prior to the scheduled booking date.
- Cancellations or rescheduling requests made within five (5) working days of the booking will incur the following charges:
- £55 for bookings up to half a day
- £110 for bookings up to a full day
- Cancellations or rescheduling requests made within twenty-four (24) hours of the booking will incur a charge equal to the full quoted amount less travel costs.
All cancellation and rescheduling requests must be communicated directly to the Company via phone, text message, or email.
1.2 Company Rescheduling
The Company reserves the right to reschedule appointments where reasonably necessary, including but not limited to weather conditions, staff availability, safety concerns, or unforeseen circumstances. The Company will provide as much notice as reasonably possible via phone, text message, or email.
2. Payment Policy
2.1 Accepted Payment Methods
Payment is due at the time of invoicing and must be made via BACS (bank transfer), unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- Cash and cheque payments are not accepted.
- Card payments may be accepted in person and will incur an additional administration fee.
2.2 Parts
All parts must be paid for in full in advance. Parts will only be ordered once payment has been received and cleared.
2.3 Refunds on Parts
Refunds for parts will only be issued where the supplier accepts the return for an appropriate reason. Any approved refund will be subject to:
- deduction of any supplier restocking or return costs; and
- a 25% administration fee.
2.4 Labour Charges
Labour charges must be paid prior to the engineer travelling to the job location unless otherwise agreed. Bank transfer is the preferred payment method. Card payments are accepted subject to an additional administration fee.
2.5 Estimates and Additional Work
All prices quoted prior to commencement of work are estimates unless expressly stated otherwise. Where work takes longer than estimated or additional work becomes necessary, additional charges may apply. The Company will make reasonable efforts to inform the customer where additional charges are likely.
3. Diagnostic Work and Parts Replacement
3.1 Diagnostic Process
Where faults cannot be conclusively identified without replacement of components, diagnostic work may involve replacing parts sequentially to determine the source of the issue. The Company will endeavour to replace the least expensive suitable parts first to reduce costs where possible.
3.2 Multiple Faults
The customer acknowledges that multiple faults may exist simultaneously. The Company will communicate findings transparently and aim to complete repairs in the most cost-effective manner reasonably possible.
4. Breakages During Repairs
Due to the nature of marine environments, including exposure to saltwater, parts, bolts, or fittings may seize, corrode, round, or break during removal. While reasonable care will always be taken, such damage may be unavoidable. Any additional labour or replacement parts required as a result will be chargeable to the customer.
5. Completion of Work and Liability
5.1 Completion
Unless additional works are recommended or agreed, the engine will be left in working order upon completion of the agreed scope of work.
Where possible, the engine will be tested, and customers are strongly advised to observe the engine running before the engineer departs.
5.2 Post-Completion Issues
Once work is completed and accepted, the Company shall not be held responsible for subsequent faults or issues arising from factors beyond the agreed work scope, continued use, environmental conditions, or unrelated component failures.
Customers experiencing issues after completion are encouraged to contact the Company for advice; however, any further attendance or work may be chargeable.
6. User Error and Call-Out Fees
If the Company is called out and the issue is determined to be due to user error or incorrect operation by the customer, a minimum call-out fee plus mileage charges will apply. In certain circumstances, the full quoted amount may be charged at the Company’s discretion.
7. Advice and Information
The Company will make reasonable efforts to provide accurate advice and information. However, all decisions based on such advice remain the responsibility of the customer. The Company accepts no liability for loss or damage resulting from reliance upon advice or from misinterpretation of information provided.
8. General
- These Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement between the customer and the Company unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- The Company reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. The terms in force at the time of booking shall apply.
- By proceeding with a booking, the customer confirms acceptance of these Terms and Conditions in full.
